1876 Miller Grave Site
1876

William Winlock dies Jan. 24, 1876 and is buried at the Masonic Cemetery in Tumwater, WA. Mary Miller assumes control of the family businesses and manages these successfully, preserving the family fortune until her death in December 1927.

Mary Miller donated land for a new high school in Olympia to be named after her late husband, William Winlock Miller. The original school, located on what is currently the campus of Washington’s capitol building, burnt down in 1918 and was rebuilt nearby.

Later in 1962 the high school was moved to its current location on 1302 North Street SE, Olympia. It is commonly referred to as Olympia High School.
